A New Design, A New Box and Pretty New Wools........

If you have read my blog for awhile

you know how much I love boxes!

Lucky me I moved into a neighborhood

with a gentleman that makes the

most beautiful boxes.

If I can draw it he can build it!

I found the most beautiful wool online a

week or so ago and redid the design I had

started out with for this lid. I tried all

sorts of trim for the edge, but it turned out

the wool was perfect.

The pattern will be ready on Monday.

I hope you like it!

If you don't have a pretty box, it would

make a lovely pillow. The name of the maker of

the box will be included on the pattern.

Woolly Woodland Christmas..........

I finally got to start a new project.

Had to wait for the wool to come in the mail.

I still need some creamy wool but at least

I can get a few little pieces started.

I bought a cute little tree on my

Washington trip and these ornaments

will hang from that tree. The only

other decoration for the tree

will be a string of acorns.

I can hardly wait for you to see it all done,

but it will be awhile. The little

ornaments are just 3 x 4. The embroidery

stitches have to be small and neat.

The weekend is almost here. The

sun is trying to peak through the clouds.

Our snow is gone but we got a lot of good

rain yesterday. All my trees and bulbs will

be happy about that.

Snow Days.....

Marysville, WA yesterday.

Middleton, ID now...

Snow has finally arrived. I told my

dear friend in Washington to keep it all

for herself but by daylight it was here.

I took one of my grandma's old old quilts

and made two very large comfy pillows for

my window seat. The quilt is just falling

apart but the pillows are just

for decoration and for

me to enjoy everyday.

Now I need to find some foam to make the seat

and some curtain material.

I guess it is a perfect day for a window seat, a

good book and some hot chocolate!

Monday.....

First of all thank you so much for the kind

comments everyone left on my

last post and the lovely emails I

received about my books.

I feel so bless that Leisure Arts took

an interest in my work and has worked

for over a year on the books.

The second group of people I would

like to thank is Cindy and all the lovely

ladies that work at her quilt shop in

Caldwell. Goodness I just don't

have the words to express how

thankful I am to all of them. She has

purchased all of my patterns, set up

displays with the models and even

has made kits so the ladies can just pick

up a kit and not worry about finding

the wool. Shop Hop is coming shortly

and I have been invited to sign copies

of my new book and wool patterns. They

are going to try to have kits for all the patterns!

How amazing is that!!

They have been keeping my printer very busy.

Well to start this week off, I have a new

pattern - Blossoms

This pillow is just a little bigger than

what I have been use to doing 8 x 10".

Wasn't sure how the wool and cotton

fabrics would do, but I really like it.

My New Book!!

Its been a week! You know those dreaded

phone calls parents get - daughter is in

the hospital with an infection. So all

week I waited by the computer or phone

for a word about her condition.

Tonight she is home and doing

well and I got two emails about

my books all in the same day!

The quilt book will be ready to

ship on April 1st.

And this little book will be out in

August. I love it!! I have forgotten

what all the items look like and here

they are. I love the cover!

What a blessing in my life to have two books!

Valentine Gift...

new and you can tell me if it works

for you. Try the link and keep your fingers crossed.

The only thing I would do differently

would be to put several layers of batting

on the inside of the bottom

circle so it would sit flatter.

Valentine Gifts....

I wanted to surprise you with a little gift...

Its a 5 inch round pincushion and only

uses just a 5 inch piece of red wool and some little white scraps

of wool. I am working on how to get to you though.

I will try a PDF file and hopefully by

tomorrow it will work for you.

Meet Mr. March....

Last night I was trying to straighten my

embroidery floss - does yours

ever get messy??

I made a wonderful discovery, I found a

nice large piece of this raspberry wool. I have

been using every square inch of a little

piece I had and now I have a nice

big piece to use.

One nice thing about wool, you can

use every little inch of it, there

is no waste BUT to do these Woolly Birdies

they take a lot of bright colors and they are

a little hard to find.

The sun is shinning today, but let me

tell you, it is very very cold out there. I am

so happy to be in my nice sunny workroom!

Love Letters......

I love old postcards and old Valentine cards. Do

you remember picking out your

Valentine cards to hand out at school?

It was a very big decision for me and we

had to decorate a paper sack so everyone

could drop a card in it during the big

party. Fun! I wonder if kids still do that or is it

too old fashion now.........

Anyway here are my Valentine postcards

for this year. I made them so you

can hang them across a window, or across

a doorway or just on the wall.

They were fun to do!

Maybe you have a dear friend you would

French Violets....

I received a very nice

Christmas present from a friend and it

inspired these little pincushions.

I used beautiful silk thread on the

hat and gloves. Silk twist on the violet and

little blue bird. Savoir Faire ribbon for

the edging, all from the Threadgatherer.

I just happen to have two lovely purple beads

to make the pins.

Meet Mr. February....

Two little woolly pillows certainly

Did you have a fun day celebrating?

My husband went fishing (35 outside and

fishing and he actually caught

something! I spent the day blowing

my nose and trying to sew. I try my

hardest not to give in to the stuff. But

I was so tempted to take a little nap...

I am trying to get 3 new patterns done so I

can start my piece for McCall's Quilting Magazine.

I bought the wool once for it but of course used

it all up so now I need to order some more.

Tomorrow I will show you two

new little pincushions - French Violets

New Year's Evening....

The sun is setting on the year.

Tomorrow will bring a new year

with a lot of promise, hope and big dreams.

This year we moved across the country.

It was hard, but I love it here in

Idaho. Husband is still missing his place

in Oklahoma but slowly he is making

some new friends to ease the pain. I got to spend

some precious time with my dear friends

in Washington and had a wonderful

time with the kids at Christmas, even

though they beat the pants off of me playing

Chicken Foot.

My blog has brought me some dear ladies

that enjoy needlework as much as I do.

I so love reading their comments. I have

found some wonderful new blogs and have

become fast friends with the ladies

that write them.

I have discovered that there are many

ladies out in the big world that love

cross-stitch and quilting as much as I do!

And lastly, quite by accident, my

business changed from making cute

little quilts to wool embroidery. I still

love quilts but wool embroidery has

captured my heart. I guess its because

I can draw a little something and make it

come to life with a needle and thread.

New Year's Eve..........

I am happy to report every bit of Christmas Joy

has been packed and stored away...

The house is sad.

When we moved in last August

I just decorated with all

the pumpkins so I could get them

unpacked and then we went into Christmas

decorations and now all I have is white

and blue bowls and pottery pieces - blah.

Need to get the drapes made for sure now...

But happy little wool pieces are calling my name.

This is Mr. February, today I am going to make

him into a pillow. I put Mr. January and his wire

basket out in the dining room, one bright spot in this house!

Do you have big plans for tonight??

I have been blowing and wiping my dripping nose for a few

days so we will enjoy being home maybe watching

a movie. Have you seen the Help? Our

daughter bought it for me for Christmas. Loved it!

Santa Donuts.....

Decided Santa might need

a few little apple cinnamon donuts.

Its very cold here and I want to make

sure he doesn't turn back. I really need

that gift certificate! I saw a lot

of very cute ornaments this

year and I need need those patterns!!

To make these donuts you need

the little Babycakes Donut Maker.

I used the buttermilk recipe and added

1.5 apples, sliced very small.

You can make six little donuts and save

the batter in the frig until you need

a few more.

I wonder if that old guy likes homemade

pizza? I will try to save him a

few slices tonight.......that should do the trick.....

Santa Cookies.......

Do you have something really

special that you really really want from

the jolly old man this year?

(I love to have a nice gift certificate

from 123 Stitch) just leave a plate

of these sweet little morsels out

for the big guy!

Glazed Almond Bars

.5 cup butter

.75 cup sugar

1 egg

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp almond extract

1/4 tsp salt

1.75 cups flour

Mix, chill for 1 to 3 hours. Cut into strips. Brush with milk and sprinkle with sliced almonds, gently pressing into dough. Bake at 375 for 7 to 8 minutes, until lightly brown on bottom. Cool and drizzle glaze over bars. (I didn't let mine cool). Glaze .5 cup powdered sugar, 1/4 tsp almond extract, 2 to 3 tsp of milk, enough to make a nice drizzling consistency.

I'll let you know what happens!

This year I don't have to worry about them getting

stuck at an airport somewhere, that old blizzard is headed

east!! I'm starting my day with some

lovely hot chocolate and then the cookie making begins......

Christmas Gift..........

When I was little, my step- father would take

us on car adventures. I sat in the

back seat and didn't say much.

Wish I had a camera back then.

Our friends in Washington take a lot of little

trips. When we were there we got to go see white

swans resting in a farmers field.

These pictures arrived today in my Christmas card.

I just took a picture of them and wanted to share these

eagles with all of you dear people.

I know they are second hand and not perfect

but aren't they beautiful?

I need to go back and see them in person!

Day Twenty Four of Christmas Joy.........

This is a new little tree that I bought while in

Washington a few weeks back. I bought

it because I thought it would make

a perfect tree to hang little wool

ornaments on it but I couldn't just

let it sit around this year!

NOTE: They took my husband's

shaving cream away during check-in

but they allowed me to have this wood/wire

thing on the plane, now I know how

dangerous shaving cream is.........

This little pillow was made years ago.

Its only about 3 inches square. The cross

stitch was done on Aida cloth! Can you see that

little bitty tree? The quilt square is my favorite pattern.

Next week at this time it will be

Christmas Day!

I love this week, every night I try to make a special

dinner and a little special treat for us to enjoy.

I finished two new ornaments

and got them on the tree.

This one is very small (Shepherd's Bush)

This is the ornament that started the

whole sparkly ribbon edging. I did

it last year and loved how they turned

out. Just so happens they

Sewing Room Christmas Tree

This was our tree for the past few years and this

year I thought it needed to go in my new sewing room!

I hung some old favorite ornaments and some little bows.

Nothing fancy but I enjoy it all day long.

See the little dolly resting at the base? One year

I sewed enough dolly's and reindeer's to pay our car

insurance for the whole year!

I hope you are enjoying this December! I bought a little Donut maker while on our trip. I tried to make apple donuts last night, I'm going to look for another recipe today. I really want them to taste like a donut not apple cake. I thought it would be fun to make donuts when company comes or the kids show up. Not sure I can make them taste like the donut shop without the grease, sugar and frosting..........

Day Eleven of Christmas Joy.....

This little guy will surely make you smile! He knows that Christmas is only 18 days away!!! He is new, only arrived yesterday with me on the jet plane. I have to confess I told a little lie, we weren't on a jet plane at all. This plane had the old fashion wings and flew low enough so we could see every one's decorations below - haha. My dear friend bought it for me and left it in our bedroom with some very nice candies on top. She should run a B & B, she is a very good host!!!

This arrived yesterday in Patty's box with my ornament. Do you remember when she posted it on her blog? I am thinking I might frame it in a little box and put it on my cabinet in my bedroom. I totally blew this exchange thing. I read this morning that people send candy and all kinds of goodies in their packages. Who knew. I think someone could have made up some rules how to be a good Blogger Christmas Ornament Exchange Person and then maybe I could have done just a little better. But there is always Valentines Day and I can try it all again...........

Day 10 1/2 of Christmas Joy....

We just now got home from Washington after spending 3 whole days with my dear friend and her husband. I cannot tell you how wonderful the trip was. I saw some amazing Christmas stores (and you know how I like to decorate), some beautiful countryside, my favorite little town AND Ben Franklin! Have you every been to a Ben Franklin? And don't tell me you have one down the road, the store is great! My husband got the mail and brought in a little box from Florida. My cross stitch blogging buddy lives down there and we exchanged ornaments. My very first exchange and I think I totally blew it. I received a box of the most beautiful treasures! I have been watching all the beautiful things she has been working on this year and quite a few of them came over in that box. I will take more pictures tomorrow of everything but this beautiful piece had to go right on the tree and get on my blog so you all could enjoy it!

Last year I tried my hand at punch needle. It was so enjoyable BUT it ate all my precious thread! Well I finished all my ornaments for this year, being very good and working on my Autumn at Hawk Run Hollow grass, don't you just love grass, well anyway my cross stitch buddy was awake all night trying to figure out what I should do next and at 1AM (who is awake at 1AM???) sent me the cutest free reindeer pattern she found online somewhere. So now I have to go through all my linen and find just the right piece for those darn reindeer and I guess that grass is going to have to wait a little bit longer...............

Good morning!
Love this little snowman, saw him on a blog last year and went right down to the needlework shop and bought the pattern. I guess someday I could have a 5th tree and put all snowmen on it! Three more days until we fly to Seattle!!! We fly in at night so if its not too cloudy maybe we can see all the Christmas lights.
I'm putting ribbon on 3 more ornaments and then I have finished all that I stitched this year, maybe its a good thing I didn't get 24 stitched, that's a lot of ribbon and pins!!

Day Three of Christmas Joy............

Good morning,
This little tree is my very favorite. Its only about 4' tall but it holds a lot of memories. When our kids were small I wanted to make them an ornament every year and buy one made out of wood for them so there are a few of those. I use to needlepoint, so there are a few of those. One year I made fabric ornaments, reindeer's and angels and bells and Santa's so there are a few of those. I cut reindeer out of felt one year and they act like garland. I can remember a friend and I started going to craft shows and I found some darling little wood ornaments. One year my daughter and I stitched ornaments while the Olympics were on TV. And then I thought I would cross stitch ornaments and have a whole tree full but then I got busy so I only got a few done. Well this last year I have met some amazing stitchers that have shown pictures of their beautiful ornaments, so I got busy and started stitching some very lovely Christmas ornaments again!

Today is Cyber Monday (my daughter is here and she told me because I don't pay attention to sales) so my Etsy Shop has a Cyber Monday sale going on - Check it out!

Three days until Turkey day, all I have to do is a little shopping, clean the house and cook the dinner but in four days we get to decorate the house for CHRISTMAS! I love Christmas, well I think what I love about it is the decorating, shopping, cookies, visiting with friends, watching Christmas movies, hot chocolate, cookies......
This year Jerry and I are headed up to Seattle to check out all their Christmas fun things. I get to spend 3, yes count it together, 1, 2, 3 whole days with my best friend and believe me the girl can make some awesome cookies! They have fun craft shows up there and the cutest little town that I just love to visit, not sure what she has planned for us but I am getting very excited about the whole trip!
Well I have been finishing ornaments and this is the first one, I bet your smiling, happy snowmen, you know they are my favorite thing!

Songs of Christmas, Two Wooly Ornaments...

Sweet ornaments, finally they are all done. Don't you just love that little camel?? The pattern will be done next week. This is the first project that I have used all of Sue Spargo's hand dyed wool, isn't lovely?

I made the mistake of cleaning the living room yesterday afternoon and decided I might as well pack the pumpkins and turkeys up instead of dusting them again. I got some of the smaller trees out of their containers and straighten their little branches out. I won't put the ornaments on for awhile but yesterday when it was dark and raining outside it was nice to have little trees all around with lights on. Now I wonder where all that Christmas music is............

Sweet Little Ornament....

Such a sweet little ornament, gave me fits last night! Almost tossed it to ornamentville but just in the nick of time an idea popped right into my head. Now I would like to find a plaid wool to back it with and I probably will fill it just a little to plump it right up. This will be a two part pattern, the second ornament has Mary and Joseph and their traveling buddies. Cutting one inch people out was just a little nerve wracking but got it done. Wait until you see the little camel - cute.........

Bill, the gentleman that makes the beautiful wood boxes delivered my newest box. I showed him a little drawing of the leg pattern I would like and he figured out how to make them, I might add much better than my drawing! I love wood with knots and holes and look I got a beautiful little knot right there in the front. Can you see the little wool pieces laying on the top??? The pattern for the box is called Backroads of Vermont. It will be out sometime next month...

Wooly Christmas Ornaments.....

Project for today, some little ornaments for the tree. I think I will buy some wool felt and do a scalloped backing. I bought some beautiful hand dyed wool from the Sue Spargo store awhile back for my McCall's Quilting magazine project and have started to use it now. Its lovely wool.

Bill, the gentleman that makes the beautiful wood boxes has another box almost done and I have been cutting out the design for it with Sue's wool. Someday I would like to order the pack with every color! I love the textured pieces and ordered a small pack of those again. One day this week I should have some Happy Mail!

Wish you all could come and sit and embroidery with me in my sewing room. Its very cold outside but the sun is shining in my big window and keeping me toasty warm!

Oh Christmas Tree....

Its 5am and most people are tucked in their beds dreaming of turkeys, maybe. Holidays I get too excited to sleep and waste time in bed, there is so much to do. My girlfriend makes a list, checks it twice and goes shopping this week for her Thanksgiving dinner. Me I have already just started to pick things up and wonder why my food budget is way over the top but all the stuff is tucked in the pantry except for that turkey.

Since the house has been decorated for Thanksgiving for such a long time I am getting pretty excited about this new tree. Can you tell, I'm taking pictures of a box at 5 in the morning.

But I didn't want to leave you with just ugly box pictures here are some pretty ornaments from last year. Please notice the snowmen, they are my favorite.....

Remember 11 whole days left before Turkey Day - and 12 days until D day!

Buggy Barn Quilts......

Have you ever seen this quilt made up? Its adorable. I have a great old pine four poster bed with pineapples at the top of each post. My husband sanded the whole thing down for me and then I put a light whitewash and wax on it. Saw this quilt made up on my trip to Utah a few months ago and came home and brought the book! I think it will be perfect for that bed. Last night at Diva night at my quilt shop, I started sewing the first block. Its taken me awhile to get all the fabrics chosen for each block. Got some really cute ones last night for the milk can, watering can and flower containers. Once you get the pieces cut out the handwork goes pretty quick. Pieces are so large, they are easy to applique down. Wish I could show you the cross-stitch piece I am working on for Christmas but I have been invited to be in an exchange and so it has to be a surprise.
Got our Christmas tree this week too! Haven't had a big tree for a few years so I am really excited. All those new ornaments are going to look great on it!

Happy Veterans Day to my dear husband and to all of our servicemen and women! When we first moved to Idaho a man walked up to my husband at Wal-Mart and shook his hand (scared us at first) and he said Thank-you! We have had that happen before but this man was firm and happy to tell Jerry how much he thought of him serving his country! Its a great day!!

These were sooo much fun to make, I am going to order more bright wool and see what I can come up with for next years projects! This morning I cut out a little Christmas ornament and as soon as I can finish cleaning my house I am going to embroidery it. Only 15 days until Turkey day and then its Christmas ornament time, are you ready??

Thank you to all of you that left comments about my cross stitch piece yesterday! Maybe we can form a club and call it a block a night group. I did get a lot done last night but I am thinking all that grass will not be done this week but I will do my best. I am having trouble this morning putting ribbon on my pincushions, I really like them without anything but I think they might need just a little touch of something. So when I get flustered I take pictures. A few more days and all my fall items get packed away for another year. I read a few decorating blogs yesterday and the bloggettes state that they will have all their Christmas decorating done for Thanksgiving! I lean more on decorating on December 1st but it would be fun to see all that Christmas stuff again! Have a great day!!

Autumn At Hawk Run Hollow....

I worked on this piece all weekend when I had some free time and I am going to work on it every night this week and just maybe I might get this block done. I gave out some advice to a very nice stitcher, about stitching her grass, do a row everyday and before you know it - it will be done. So now I am going to take my own advice and stitch every night and maybe just maybe it might get done. Thank the Good Lord the next two blocks are pretty simple. I really want to hang this piece in the living room SOON. I am not going to include two of the charted blocks so that will help it along a little. Have you ever seen so much grass......

Bright Wool Pincushions!

These little 4 inch pincushions can brighten up any one's day! I am trying to figure out a cute way to finish them. I'll work on that this afternoon. Started painting my book shelves this morning, made myself get to it, because you all know what I rather be doing.....

Good gravy -- that picture will wake a person up this morning!! These are the 4 pincushions for this series. Every little sheep needs a flower, a cute little home and a big heart. I'm off today to find some bright pink beads to make the fancy pins and some cute buttons for the big heart and little heart.

Books and Dreams.....

Last weekend my husband built the shelves in my sewing room and I started unpacking books and going through all my treasures. When I get the paint bought I will have to take everything down again but it was so enjoyable seeing everything up and organized. I dearly love books of all kinds especially these two. I have a dream of designing a lot of little things and having a small book. Oh I am very blessed to have two books published by Leisure Arts but I would love to have a book with some decorating, cross-stitch, a couple of quilts, cookies, some wool embroidery, flowers and a garden or two.
I was wondering if any of you dear people love books and what type of books do you collect?

My goal this year was to make 24 cross-stitch ornaments for my Christmas tree - well I moved across country, stayed in a little rental for 4 months and moved into a new home and I guess the biggest excuse - I fell in love with wool embroidery -so - this is number 11. BUT some of the pieces I did were rather large. My stitching buddy is starting on decorating for Christmas so I was encouraged to finish this guy this week and I dug out all my ornaments and just maybe tomorrow I will start putting them together with the fancy ribbons and beads.
Don't you just love Christmas - you know it is just around the corner......

Buttons & Lace...

Ohhh boy are those bright colors or what?? I love my camera, takes an awesome picture. I started a new little bunch of 4" pincushions today. They are centered around buttons, lace, pinks and greens. Of course I will have to go see about some new beads for the pins because I do not own any hot pink beads.
I'm trying to send a pattern and some information out to quilt stores or needlework stores about the little pincushions, if you have a store that you shop at that might be interested please let me know and I will be happy to mail a packet to them.

Santa and Miss Rosie The Angel

This morning after church we went to Target and Santa was everywhere! A person cannot help but get in the mood for Christmas with little twinkling lights, bright red boxes and purple Christmas trees. Ooops sorry I saw those purple Christmas trees at Hobby Lobby, I hope their not your favorite tree, but they are just sort of sad looking :)

Woolly Santa and Friends.....

Here is the little woolly Santa, stuffed with walnut shells and even has his own fancy little pins. He will have some friends in the next few days, not sure who they might be yet but just maybe tomorrow morning when I am eating my bagel they might just pop right into my head! I think three 4" Christmas pincushions would be perfect for a pattern. I am thinking Rudolph would love to be included.....

Wooly Santa Pincushion....

This morning while I was eating my bagel and reading a few blogs, I found that snow is headed to certain parts of this country! This year I don't have to stack wood or worry about getting to the wood during ice storms, all I have to do is stack a few quilts here and there to keep us warm and cozy. They do have very cold weather here and snow but the electric bills are very low so one doesn't have to worry about turning the heat on. So anyway, hearing about snow I just got this idea to make some Christmas pincushions! They will be 4 inches and cute!!!

Wool - Lots of Wool.....

My quilt shop had a sale on Saturday and in a basket I found a couple of treasures, this bundle is for the piece I am drawing up now - very yummy...

These pieces are from the famous wool shop - Primitive Gatherings, ohhh I would love to go there one day with a couple of hundred dollars in my pocket.....

And this is Wooly Christmas! Covers are made, pictures are made and almost all the pattern is done. A few more days and it will be ready. Love those ornaments - now I need to get those cross stitch ornaments finished.....

Doesn't red skies mean something important? Our beautiful fall weather got rather chilly this morning and no sun to be seen.

This is one of my new little trees, isn't it so pretty?? That wind is knocking it's leaves off, could wait a week at least....

This is my tree that is a couple of weeks old, if the weather would hold out, the leaves will turn dark red and see that building behind it? That is the workout center where I am headed now......

Quilts For Sale.....

Today was very special - I bought 3 beautiful little trees that turn all sorts of colors for fall and my box arrived for this pattern! Isn't it just beautiful?? It even has little bun feet! It seems every week we are meeting some very nice people here in Idaho and a couple of weeks ago we met a couple that moved here from California. He does amazing woodworking and has a very nice collection of boxes in his home and I asked if he could make a box for this pattern. Now I am thinking I could do 3 more patterns this size and change it out for the seasons. But first I have a design all worked out in my little head and tomorrow it has to get drawn out.
We are having an amazing fall, the trees in this area are just amazing. I hope your weekend is going well and you have some time for stitching!

There we go, I think all eighteen ornaments can be seen now. I love the little Nutcracker! Wooly Winter is all stitched, I am just waiting on the box to get finished. The piece is going into the lid of the box. I can hardly wait to see it all finished. Today is pattern day, I have to put my needle down and put the printers to work.

I do believe this has been one of my most favoritest projects ever! (Don't you just love that word?) Eighteen 3" ornaments. I wish the little lights showed up in the picture, you will just have to trust me, they are there. We are working on the patterns now and should have them done next week. I will show all 4 pictures in the next few days. I used the beautiful silken pearl and silk ribbons, a little bit of lace and each ornament was edged in a larger silken pearl. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed designing it!

Saturday Drive

Yesterday we left our valley to go up north and see the pines, rivers and a big lake. This picture is the beginning of the pines and the last of the brown mountains. It just got prettier and prettier going up the mountain.
Three whole days of fun but tomorrow I have to get back to work on my little winter piece. Its going to have a 2 inch quilt and I am trying to decide what little pattern it will have.

Sunshine and Funny Clouds

Husband came in and hung a new shade in my sewing room. The sewing room is on the front of the house so we got a shade that lowers down from the top or comes up from the bottom. It all depends on what my clothing choice is for the moment..... Anyway I look up and saw this cloud going by. We haven't had too many cloudy days since we moved here so I was missing all the pretty clouds. Nothing like blue sky and white fluff to make you smile!

Good Monday Morning!

This morning at 5 I started a new little series

of wool embroidery pictures. They will be 5 x 7".

This first one is Winter to Fall. Cute little pillows

to set around to help you decorate. Husband made me a cute little wooden shelf to set mine on. I have to stop sewing for awhile and go work out and plant more tulip bulbs. A sweet neighbor came by Saturday and left some wonderful pumpkin bread and informed us that they put their Christmas lights up in the next couple of weeks because it could snow on Halloween! So I guess tomorrow we will have to find all those lights and get that done too.

I'm not sure what color to make winter leaves but this afternoon I will figure it out and get this done. Next design has to get cut out tonight - Apple Picking Time!

Chicken Foot....

I would have to write a very long post to explain Chicken Foot. When we have a great game going here, I will take a picture to show everyone. The first thing though, you have to go right down to your local store and buy a can of these and have a bag of MM's helps too....
Weather is so pretty today AND I found a place that has Texas BBQ! Took an order of patterns to my quilt store in Caldwell and saw a little place that said BBQ. So I stopped on the way home and good gravy, the gentleman was from Tyler, TX and the BBQ was outstanding! When we lived in OK we would drive to Texas and enjoy BBQ for the whole weekend! Now all I have to do is drive 8 minutes, enjoy the quilt shop and get dinner on the way home..... Loving it.....

Shepherd's Bush Christmas Ornaments.....

Yesterday was cold and raining, a good reminder that Christmas is right around the corner. Back to work on my ornaments. I found this scrap of linen and I can stitch 6 ornaments on it, I think. Hopefully today I can fill in that blank spot. Sun is coming back tomorrow so I can finish painting my cabinet. Trying to get ready for some fun company this next week. Plenty of time to play Chicken Foot, I'm really good at it, you don't even want to mess with me when it comes to CHICKEN FOOT!

Wool and Silk Ribbons....

Do you love pretty ribbon - I do and today I got my order to finish my little ornaments. Love them! I got the Silken Pearl too. Now I don't have to be sad, I can work some more on the little ornaments. I didn't start on the new cross stitch pattern today anyway, I decided I needed to clean my new little sewing room up a little and I did get to the garage to paint a cabinet!

A Lizzie Angel.....

My version of a Christmas Angel, isn't she sweet? I got a candy cane done this morning and this afternoon I will stitch a toy solider but now I have to run to town to buy paint for a cabinet and some pansies and more tulips.... One more ornament to do and I cannot decide if it should be a Christmas bow, a Santa flying over a little house or a sleigh and then I have to buttonhole stitch the edges and tie a little bow at the top on all eighteen ornaments.
Its raining today, starting to look and feel like fall.......

A Promise is A Promise....

I promised yesterday not to show anymore little wool projects (the little bear I am working on is too cute for words) so I am showing you a piece of cross stitch that I designed many years ago. I hung it in the guest room, getting ready for some very important people that are coming in a few short weeks. It is very long, fits perfectly between the bed post above the headboard. I still enjoy reading the verse and all the little words I stitched for each letter. I hope you do too...........

Boy oh boy, 2 whole days went by and I didn't get one piece cut on my new quilt - not good. However I did manage to make more little ornaments. I promise not to show anymore until its all done. But its difficult to keep quiet about something so much fun to make.
I had a sweet neighbor come down one day and show me a piece of cross stitch that she had just learned to do and of course if you know me at all, that lesson changed my whole life. Of course we didn't have any stores in our town that sold any supplies so we had to order everything. Three of us would get together and order DMC floss and the day it arrived we would sit around the table together and Jeanne would empty the package onto the table and we would just sit and stare at all the beautiful colors. They would stitch a whole pattern in a few days but it would take me a month or so to finish anything. I had a brand new baby girl and a very busy 3 year, I could hardly wait for nap time!
Now I just want to share with all of you! Try just a little piece of wool embroidery. All those stitches you learned years ago will look so pretty with some beautiful thread and fun wool!
