Friend.....

When we moved to Oklahoma about 7 years ago we got into a little bit of a mess with building our home. So for about 3 years we worked all day and then came home and worked on the house trying to save it. Thank goodness we have moved on, sold that house and built a new one. For the past six years I didn't have much time to write to friends or work on keeping our friendships strong but lately I have had so much enjoyment reconnecting to some very special ladies that I have met over the years. But during that time I met a very remarkable lady. I worked at the University and Carolyn came there to study. She had been hurt very badly and still suffers some pain from an accident. She was changing careers and came to OU to get her PHD. I felt bad, everytime we met I was still stuck in my bad situation and no good news to share but she never gave up on me. She remembered my birthday and always came with a sweet gift. I was lucky to remember what day it was let alone it was my birthday! Well anyway, awhile back her mom passed away and Carolyn being the only child had a big job ahead. So many business problems to take care of, selling her mom's home and selling everything in the house. Makes me tired just writing about it! One day I got an email from her while she was back east asking me if there was anything I would like from the estate! She even sent pictures for me to choose from! Well you know I love old bowls, new bowls, cracked bowls, handmade bowls, hand-me-down bowls - silly - so I just asked for a bowl and some dolies if she had any. Mainly I wanted something that I would just remember Carolyn when I went to use it.
Awhile later when my husband and I got to go see her new home she gave me a precious old bowl (I will show it to you sometime) and some dolies. When I take pictures I always grab one to put underneath to make the picture special.
Well Carolyn is finally back to working on her PHD, I hope she finishes soon. We both had a lot come and go out of our lives for the past few years but this is one friendship that will continue for a long time...........

What a sweet post. And what a sweet friendship you share with Carolyn. Savor it. I lost my BFF 6 years ago and I still miss her smile every day.
