7th Day of December.....

When I was little my mom always had a very lovely Christmas tree for us to enjoy. We even had a very large snowman family on the front lawn with spot lights! The tree had to be centered in the front living room window just perfect so everyone driving by could enjoy it! I can remember squeezing in behind it hanging the ornaments just perfect. We would take drives in the evenings to enjoy other displays and my favorite was a neighborhood that worked together on their displays. My goodness what displays they had. They built houses and sleighs and reindeer out of wood and the lights went on forever. They even had Santa walking around handing out Candy Cane's to everyone and music on loud speakers for us to enjoy. What a fun neighborhood to live in!
My favorite Christmas trees since we have been married are the ones with the kids ornaments, cross stitch ornaments, fabric ornaments, popcorn swags and little white lights. When we moved to Oklahoma my husband decided we needed to start our own collection of tree decorations so we decided on a red and gold theme. So for a couple of years we had a beautiful tree with new red and gold ornaments and red bows. When we moved to this new house I gave the tree away it was just too big for the living room. This year I planned on getting a tall skinny tree but they sold out of them before I got to the store to buy one! But not to worry because we still have four little trees to enjoy. This little tree is my favorite. It has some cross stitch ornaments that my daughter and I worked on together, some ornaments that I picked up at various craft shows, some stuffed reindeer that I made when the kids were very little, a few of the wood ornaments that I collected for them, little reindeer cut out of felt, ornaments sent from friends, and of course little white lights. There is something so wonderful about old lovely ornaments that have been collected for years - maybe its the memories that are attached to them. Somehow I don't miss that big bright shiny tree.........
